40 New Kitchens For West Belfast Homes

Forty Housing Executive tenants living in the Springmadden and Ballymurphy areas of West Belfast are getting brand new kitchens courtesy of a £160,000 improvement scheme.

As part of the current scheme tenants will be able to select their new kitchen units, worktop and tiles from a range of options and kitchen layouts will be improved, where necessary, to accommodate modern day appliances. The look will be completed with a new extractor fan and flooring and we will also install or upgrade smoke and heat detectors as necessary.

Consultation remains a key element of any successful scheme and to that end we have worked closely with the community and their representatives in the development of this scheme. The contractor, PK Murphy, has appointed a Customer Service Manager who will carry out one to one consultation with tenants before work begins in their home. This partnership will ensure that the scheme progresses with minimum disruption for tenants.

PK Murphy's Customer Services Manager, Eunan McCourt, added: "PK Murphy is fully committed to customer involvement and we believe we have backed this up with a high quality product and service. If this scheme progresses like previous ones in West Belfast then we know that the tenants involved will have a kitchen they can be really proud of."

The scheme has a contract value of £164,632 and work will be carried out on a phased basis to 40 properties at the following locations:

•Ardmonagh Parade

•Springfield Close, Heights and Park

•Springmadden Court
